Canada turned 150 in 2017. In December, 2013, CBC.ca published an article, Canada’s 150th birthday logos tested ahead of 2017 anniversary, demonstrating five logos in development by the Federal Government for Canada’s 150th anniversary. Across the nation, graphic designers and creative/art directors were immediately appalled at the lack design aptitude and professionalism displayed. The five logos were sub-par and did not showcase the design talent of top Canadian graphic designers. We felt disheartened and disappointed with what we saw. Taking action, designers from across Canada began showcasing their talents by creating their own logo to join the cause, challenging the five proposed designs.
